Enlighten me why someone would pay 1000% to borrow
Our CTB combined with our insane amounts of FTDs is the biggest sign to me that the stock is being naked shorted into oblivion.
Normal shorting: Borrow stock for ”normal” fee (1-2%) > sell it short > wait for stock to go down in price > buy back at lower price > return share > profit
Naked shorting: Borrow stock at insane fee (1000%) > sell it short > return ”share” > generate FTD (failure to deliver) > go back to first step for unknown amount of times > wait for stock to go down to pennies > profit
Even if someone shorted the stock through normal means at this CTB, they would hardly make a profit in the end. WHY is no one even reacting on this? If I was on the board of directors at AMC I would be furious, demanding some kind of action or explanation on what the fuck is going on.
Or am I missing some super advanced stock market trick in all of this? How long will this last? I bought in in January 2021 and have all the time in the world.
